Types of vehicle keys that need reprogramming

Transponder key:

The majority of cars that were made post-1995 come with a transponder key that provides more security than a standard key or remote key. This type of vehicle key comes with a transponder chip inside - if you do not have this, the engine won’t start and the alarm cannot be disabled.

Remote key:

Remote vehicle keys can be used for both cars and vans, and it does exactly what it says on the tin - it lets you open and lock the vehicle from a distance (via an electronic chip), without having to enter a key into the door lock. Our locksmiths specialise in remote car key fob replacement.

Flip key:

This type of key is common with vehicles manufactured by Volkswagen and is otherwise known as a switch-blade key. The metal key can fold into the plastic key fob by simply pushing it in - to flip the key back out of the plastic, you simply need to press the small button and it will release.
